Academy of Finance and CPA Australia advance in cooperation
May 10th 2017, AOF meets a delegation of CPA Australia in Hanoi to discuss issues of future academic cooperation. This working session is expected to be a milestone in the relationship between the two as AOF attempts to be the first academic body accredited by CPA Australia.

A team of CPA Australia manager representatives included: Mr. Mark Chau – CPA Australia Regional Manager; Ms. Tran Thien Huong – Chief Representative of CPA Australia in Vietnam; Ms. Pham Thi Mai Phuong – Business Development Manager of CPA Australia.

Assoc. Prof., Dr. Pham Van Lien – AOF Vice President represented the AOF Director Board and other division managers including: Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung – Training Director; Assoc. Prof., Dr. Do Thi Phi Hoai – Director of International Cooperation; Assoc. Prof., Dr. Bui Van Van – Faculty Head of Corporate Finance; Assoc. Prof., Dr. Nguyen Tien Thuan – Faculty Head of International Finance; Dr. Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang – Vice Head of Language Faculty; Do Khac Huong M.A – Vice Director of International Cooperation.

The meeting was scheduled to work on three strategic issues:

  • Reevaluate the modules delivering at Faculty of Accounting and Faculty of Corporate Finance;
  • Examine the possibility to transfer professional materials from CPA Australia to AOF;
  • Discuss the feasibility of combining and mapping CPA Australia’s modules into undergraduate program of AOF.

At the event, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Pham Van Lien and his partner Mr. Mark Chau emphasized that they would do the best on the bilateral tie between the two institutions. The two side agreed on the new Accreditation Roadmap to reevaluate the modules delivering at the faculties of Accounting and Corporate Finance and develop into a new criteria to be accredited by CPA Australia. CPA Program consists of 6 professional subjects.  For non-accredited accounting degrees or non-accounting degree, where students may lack certain core knowledge to be eligible to take the CPA Program directly, they can take the foundation exams as an entry pathway before attempting the professional subjects. Thus, this would help the AOF’s graduated students attend the CPA Australia's program directly and make AOF the first body in Vietnam accredited by CPA Australia. The Accreditation program was evaluated mostly suitable at the moment for AOF and would be the base for the future award of Tuition Provider.

AOF and CPA Australia also worked on the idea of integrating CPA’s foundation modules into the undergraduate program of AOF. As agreed, the CPA Australia’s modules would not only be integrated into undergraduate program of accounting and corporate finance but also into entire undergraduate program at AOF. Both sides promised to do the mapping for this idea within the year 2017.
